The General Administration of Customs notified typical cases of unqualified quality and safety of imported baby products, involving brands such as Ralph Lauren and KENZO KIDS.

  According to the website of the General Administration of Customs, on June 1, the General Administration of Customs notified some typical cases of unqualified quality and safety of imported baby products detected from June 2021 to May 2022, including clothing, children’s shoes, toys, toothbrushes, food contact products and other five categories of 82 batches of imported baby products, involving Ralph Lauren, KENZO KIDS, ZARA and Lion King.

  In the typical cases notified, the unqualified items detected by imported garments are mainly formaldehyde content, color fastness, pH value, tensile strength of accessories, durability labels, etc. The unqualified items detected by imported children’s shoes are mainly the length of steel hooks; The unqualified items detected by imported toys are mainly small parts, toxic and harmful substances, compulsory product certification, etc. The unqualified items detected by imported toothbrushes are mainly sanding, monofilament bending recovery rate and toothbrush head thickness. The unqualified items detected by imported baby food contact products are mainly decoloration test and acrylonitrile migration.

  The above-mentioned unqualified imported baby products were returned or destroyed by the Customs in accordance with the Law of People’s Republic of China (PRC) on Import and Export Commodity Inspection and its implementing regulations and other relevant laws and regulations. The Customs will continue to strengthen the quality and safety inspection and supervision of imported baby products, and effectively protect the life, health and safety of babies.
